Trento (Italy) has become a full EIT ICT Labs Node “Spreading ICT innovation in Europe”
On January 1st, 2012 Trento got the status of “Italian Node” of the European Knowledge and Innovation Community dedicated to the Information and Communication Technologies, joining the other national nodes located in Berlin, Eindhoven, Helsinki, Stockholm and Paris. Through this achievement, Trento further confirms its international status as an Italian innovation center of excellence in higher education, research and business.
Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) are transnational consortia acting at the European level within the institutional framework of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), the most ambitious research and innovation initiative ever launched by the European Commission. By simultaneously addressing all three elements of the knowledge triangle (research, business and higher education), the EIT aims at changing the current European landscape, entrusting the actual task of realizing these goals to the KICs. The KIC dedicated to ICT – the EIT ICT Labs – is already actively reshaping the relationship between research, business and higher education in order to create added value to all the three components.
